Samsara by Poorvi Bhana
An M Tech Fine Art degree exhibition
Poorvi Bhana's new work will be exhibited from February 17 through March 03 in the national
museum of natural history located in Pretoria.
As in the past, the backbone of her work is invocation, however she re-interprets this theme through
new media as she explores the ceramics process in greater depth.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Runette Kruger, faculty member of Tshwane university's
department of fine and applied art, with a key note address by Michael Nixon from the University of
Cape Town. Two public walkabouts are scheduled on Feb 23 at 14:00 and Feb 27 at 10:00, featuring
leading ceramicist John Shirley and Tshwane university's own Jan van der Merwe respectively.
Attendance to the walkabouts is free of charge.
The exhibition will feature a collection of installations by Poorvi, who has already featured
prominently as finalist and prize-winner at Sasol's new signatures art competition, the Thami Mnyele
fine art competition and ceramics SA's regional exhibition in 2012.
Admission to the Museum costs R25 and includes secure parking and a map. The museum operates
Monday through Sunday from 08:00 until 16:00
